Shanghai Hongkou Opens New Track to Establish Global Aviation Trade Supply Chain Ecosystem
At the beginning of the Year of the Horse, Hongkou District in Shanghai has set its sights on a key area of global city competition: supply chain management. The global maritime trade supply chain management service platform, based on shipping, officially began construction today. Hongkou has taken the first step in transforming from a "major shipping district" to a "supply chain service hub," opening up a new track for high-quality regional economic development that aligns with its resource endowments.

At the launch ceremony of the global maritime trade supply chain management service platform held on the morning of February 28, the first batch of global maritime trade supply chain ecosystem institutions and enterprises signed agreements.
According to reports, Shanghai has currently established a number of maritime trade supply chain management unit systems, such as the maritime trade chain, single window, container shipping MaaS, port communication, and COSCO Shipping GSBN (Global Shipping Business Network), covering core scenarios like electronic bills of lading, cross-border compliance, and port logistics, laying a solid foundation for the construction of an international shipping center and international trade center. However, there are still shortcomings such as poor system connectivity and limited data empowerment, leading to issues like information silos reducing logistics efficiency, insufficient value-added services like supply chain finance and risk warning, and increased risks of document forgery and trade fraud.
The global maritime trade supply chain management service platform launched by Hongkou is specifically designed to address these bottlenecks. Its main goal is to integrate and link data from segmented linear unit systems like the maritime trade chain, single window, and container shipping MaaS, achieving instant business parallel collaboration and ecosystem co-construction. It aims to become a resource allocation hub, financial empowerment center, and security stronghold for the global shipping trade supply chain, and strives to serve as a physical link node for Shanghai's construction of a global supply chain management service center, promoting Shanghai's leap from a "high-traffic port" to a "value management center," and continuously enhancing the level of Shanghai's international trade center and shipping center.
Wei Xiaoming, Executive Deputy General Manager of E-Trans International, said that the construction of the platform will effectively solve the problems of "small, scattered, and weak" shipping service enterprises, improving upstream and downstream connectivity efficiency through platform services and enhancing one-stop service capabilities. Whether it's the existing single window or electronic port, more has been provided in terms of very good intensive services at single points of the supply chain. However, in the entire extension to "end-to-end" global supply chain management services, he believes that Hongkou's platform fills this gap.
As a major shipping district, Hongkou has a concentration of over 4,600 port and shipping enterprises, more than 2,100 financial institutions, and financial support with a wealth management scale of 8 trillion, forming a synergistic effect. The maritime trade supply chain management platform provides strong support and assurance. In the future, the platform will focus on "data base as the core, functional modules as support, and diverse applications as extensions," integrating data elements across the entire shipping trade chain, covering and serving seven business segments "end-to-end," comprehensively enhancing global maritime trade supply chain management service functions.
Yuan Siliang, Deputy Director of the Hongkou District Shipping Office, introduced that in the future, the platform will integrate logistics, business flow, capital flow, and information flow through digital means, then connect traditional elements such as port terminals, ship cargo, trade documents, and financial settlements, constructing an ecosystem of upstream and downstream collaboration and cross-domain integration. It will transform resource potential into platform strength, promoting the industrial chain from physical aggregation to chemical fusion, providing solid "regional node" support for the construction of Shanghai's global supply chain management center.
According to the plan, by the end of the Fifteenth Five-Year Plan period, the platform will aggregate more than 50 leading service enterprises, basically establishing a global service network, striving to achieve a settlement scale of over one trillion yuan, serving thousands of enterprises, and forming a development ecosystem.
