Hainan Under Lockdown for 100 Days: Yangpu Port Sees Container Throughput Double
China News Service, Yangpu, Hainan, March 27 (Jiang Yufeng) The Hainan Free Trade Port has been in operation for a hundred days, and the Yangpu Maritime Bureau introduced on the 26th that from December 18, 2025, to March 26, 2026, Yangpu Port's container throughput exceeded 1.03 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 100%; among them, foreign trade accounted for 390,000 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 210.3%, achieving a doubling growth.
Since the closure of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Yangpu Port, as the core gateway for Hainan's opening to the outside world, has seen a continuous high level of ship traffic and cargo throughput. Facing the new situation of dense ship arrivals and increased operational intensity, the Yangpu Maritime Bureau insists on dual-line efforts in safety supervision and service assurance, building a three-dimensional supervision system and an efficient service chain.
In terms of safety supervision, the Yangpu Maritime Bureau focuses on the core work of container ship safety supervision, deepening coordinated interaction with customs, public security, and other units, regularly conducting joint container inspections to avoid repeated inspections that increase enterprise costs; at the same time, using drones and other technological means, coordinating patrol inspections and on-site supervision, strictly preventing water safety risks, ensuring safe and orderly navigation in the sea area.
In terms of service assurance, the Yangpu Maritime Bureau organizes two-way navigation in Yangpu Port channels, strictly implements the "four priorities" measures for container ships: priority entry and exit, priority berthing and departure, priority loading and unloading, priority inspection, fully ensuring container ships "direct entry and berthing, direct departure and exit"; at the same time, strengthening efficient coordination with port dispatch, piloting, tug units, scientifically coordinating berthing and departure plans, comprehensively improving the transit efficiency of container ships at Yangpu Port and the overall operational efficiency of the port.
During the hundred days of closure, Yangpu Port's container throughput doubled, showing a good trend of continuous release of free trade port policy dividends and steady improvement in comprehensive maritime service capabilities. The transportation volume of livelihood materials achieved rapid growth simultaneously, cold chain import categories continued to expand, and regional radiation and livelihood assurance functions were further enhanced.
Relevant personnel from the Yangpu Maritime Bureau stated that the next step will be to deepen the integration of maritime supervision and services, fully ensuring the safety, stability, and efficiency of the maritime logistics supply chain, contributing stronger maritime power to regional economic and social development.
